majr – where songs take center stage

majr is an LA-based startup building new tech that connects artists and fans around a deeper experience of music.
majr is a startup investing in the future of music by building digital tools to empower musicians, bringing together artists and fans through shared experiences and community. To support an upcoming product launch, we delivered a branding package and application designs that emphasize their belief in the power of music and community as agents of change for the good.

Waves, Fluidity, Rhythmic, Familiar, Free and Retro
majr’s core values are firmly rooted in the creative process and the artists that inhabit them, so we chose to highlight this dedication to craft by exploring brand motifs of fluidity, movement, and freedom.

To represent the dynamism and fluidity of creativity, we based majr’s brand colors on a neutral palette that worked well together in various combinations, and implemented a digital color experience for web and mobile applications that used dynamic gradients that changed and moved slowly over time. The dynamic color system also allows for a cohesive experience that visually connects album covers and video elements without thematically interfering with the original artwork.

To communicate majr’s positioning as the next wave of tools for musicians, we created an approachable logo centered around themes of fluidity and gentle movement, with a custom typeface meant to modernize the nostalgia of 60’s design.

The Roboto fonts are optimized for readability on screens across a wide variety of devices and reading environments.
The font allows letters to take up as much space as they need, and is well-suited to reading and writing lyrics on a small screen.
Additionally, Roboto fonts go well with groups of album covers that have multiple, disparate fonts.
